ICBC Benefits - Triumph Physio and Wellness

Benefits

As of April 1 2019, you no longer have to pay a user fee to receive medical and physical therapy services from ICBC.

We offer specialized assessments prior to your treatment as well as customized sessions to all clients with active claims. Each treatment varies depending on the client’s needs for a swift recovery.

A treatment plan for MVA-related injuries is typically formed during assessments so that you can have a clear understanding of your injuries and you can maximize your ability to recover.

Regardless of fault, we can help those injured in car accidents recover and get back to the things they love.

I’ve been taking ICBC treatments with Pantea and my conditions have been drastically improved. She is thorough, knowledgeable and caring. I’m glad that I found her! Highly recommend Triumph and Pantea!
— Rachel Leoni
Karen is by far the best physiotherapist. I’ve had many car accidents and went through different physio therapists and she definitely cares for her clients. She is very personable and caring. Be sure to check this place out and ask for Karen!
— Nana Tamura
Three years ago, Karen treated me after a car accident, and has also helped me greatly with a tendon injury that flares up every few years. She is calm, friendly, and dedicated to her patients’ well-being. Karen is an incredible diagnostician and physiotherapist who has my total trust and respect!!
— Ellen McQuillan
I had Karen recommended to me after a back injury resulting from a car accident. I’ve been nothing but pleased with both the progress and level of care provided by Karen. I’d confidently recommend Karen to any friends or family in need of physiotherapy for any reason.

Frequently Asked Questions

We get questions about ICBC, active claims, and coverage a lot, so we’ve put together a list of some of the most frequently asked questions!

  • ICBC covers 25 sessions of physiotherapy, 12 sessions of acupuncture, and 12 sessions of registered massage therapy (RMT). However, ICBC pre-approval has a 90-day (12 weeks) time window post your initial MVA date. We want to make sure you're covered before you book your first appointment, so doing so during this window rather than outside of it will maximize your coverage.

  • While most services are covered by ICBC with an active claim, there may be some out-of-pocket costs, such as the RMT user fee, which is not reimbursed by ICBC.

  • If you were injured as a result of an accident and sustained whiplash or a neck or back injury, you may be entitled to receive physio treatment as part of your ICBC claim. Once you’ve made your claim, declared your injuries, and received your claim number, you will almost certainly be approved to receive the treatment you need.

  • ICBC does cover these expenses in certain cases, but you’ll first need to complete a Personal Care Assessment with your ICBC recovery specialist. If your specialist’s report agrees that you need support with caring for your home, you can go ahead and hire someone to help.

  • Care at Triumph Physio and Wellness is pre-approved for the first 90 days (12 weeks) after your car accident, meaning you don’t need a referral from a doctor or nurse practitioner to get started.

  • If you’ve sustained a concussion from your motor vehicle accident (MVA), you’ll need to get diagnosed by a doctor or other specialist, and then provide that diagnosis to ICBC. This diagnosis is provided to ICBC, who will then approve your non-standard concussion care. Once that’s done, you can get approved for non-standard care, such as concussion rehabilitation. The good news is Triumph Physio and Wellness can help with this too!
